House-hunting in South Jersey

Polly made two house hunting trips to Gloucester County in 2009; one in March and another in May. Both times she came back "empty handed" and so the Henrys moved with the expectation that God would provide a place to live after they arrived.

To some this seemed risky. But in church planting, and in pastoral ministry, the pastor's house, and its larger community, plays an important role in determining the church's overall mission.

Helping make this possible, Fairfield PCA in Fairton, NJ, made a "missionary home" available to Phil and Polly an their kids for a month or so while they located just the right home for the family and the new church plant.

The Henrys Have Landed

The Henrys finally arrived in New Jersey, and they did it in the grand style.

Coming up from Washington DC and a brief visit with friends there, they took their van and U-Haul onto the Lewes-Cape May ferry and landed on the Jersey Shore in Cape May under sunset skies on Wednesday evening June 25.

They would finally sleep in New Jersey in a vacant missionary home of a local church (Fairfield Presbyterian Church) after a total of fifteen days on the road and at least a half-dozen stops to the homes of friends and family all along the way.
